Ghostyak Notes v1.0.3 is released
You can now keep writing after the trial ends. Ghostyak Notes v1.0.3 also adds split view, license activation, and a faster page overview.
Ghostyak Notes v1.0.3 is released. It includes every change since v1.0.0. The line between the trial and Pro has moved, and split view is new.
You can keep writing after the trial ends
In v1.0.0 you could no longer write after 30 days. Now you can keep writing when the period ends, and only the Pro features below are locked. A PC whose trial has already ended can write again after installing v1.0.3.
- What you keep: writing, page editing, new notes, merging documents, finding within a document, exporting to PDF with your handwriting, and already recognized text
- Pro features: OCR, Auto Mode, Performance Mode, searching all documents, all bookmarks, all marked text, and the minimap
The 30-day trial itself is unchanged. Every feature is available from the day you first launch the app, once per device, and installing a new version does not extend it.
Pro is a one-time purchase, and updates after purchase are included. One key activates up to 3 devices. Purchasing is not open yet. See Compare Trial and Pro for details.
License and Pro labels
- Activate and deactivate a key under License in Settings. After activation the app works without internet.
- An activated PC checks its license when the app starts: once a day for the first 30 days, then once every 90 days. Document content is never sent, and everything keeps working if the check fails. The trial does not run this check.
- Pro features carry a Pro badge in menus, and the tab bar shows a Trial or Pro label.
- After the trial, clicking a locked feature opens a notice, and the minimap opens dimmed.
Split view
Place two documents side by side in one window and edit both.
- Drag a tab to the left or right of the window, or press
Ctrl+\. - Open the same document on both sides to write while looking at another page.
- When you restart the app, the split comes back as you left it.
Search and OCR
- Find in document and library search now open in the same spot at the top right. Move between this document and all documents without losing what you typed.
- After jumping from a library search result into a document, a button on the find bar takes you back to the results.
- Library search shows the number of matches along with the number of pages.
- Menu items are now named Recognize This Page (OCR), Recognize Whole Document (OCR), Auto Mode, and Restore Initial State.
- Performance Mode is new. It lets Auto Mode use more system resources to recognize text faster. It is off by default, and other work may slow down while it runs.
Page overview
- Thumbnails are faster. While the overview is open, the whole document is drawn ahead of time and kept on your PC, so it stays fast after you restart the app.
- In split view, the overview opens only in the pane you are working in.
Fixes
- Fixed buttons such as undo, page navigation, and zoom turning off and on while drawing a stroke.
- Fixed the top row of the outline panel disappearing and returning while dragging text or drawing a stroke.
- Fixed a mark being left on the page when clicking it to close tool settings.
- Fixed rare failures of work done right after closing a document.
There are no automatic updates. Download the new installer and run it. Your documents stay as they are.
