Ghostyak Notes v0.1.2-beta is released

Ghostyak Notes v0.1.2-beta adds OCR that makes the text in scanned PDFs searchable and a dictionary lookup for selected text, along with stability work across the app.

Ghostyak Notes v0.1.2-beta is released. We spent most of our time on stability for this version, and added two new features: OCR and dictionary lookup.

OCR

Ghostyak Notes now automatically recognizes pages where the text exists only as an image, such as scanned PDFs. Once a page is recognized, you can search, drag to select and copy its text just like in a regular PDF. The page you are viewing is processed first, progress is shown at the bottom of the window, and you can stop at any time. All recognition happens on your own PC.

Dictionary

Select some text and click Dictionary in the menu to open the dictionary results in your default browser. The default is NAVER Dictionary, and you can add the dictionaries or translators you use most in Settings.

More stable

  • Fixed an empty white window appearing first when the app starts.
  • Reduced the flicker when you turn pages quickly.
  • Fixed menus being cut off at the edge of a page.

We also added a Cornell notes background, links inside documents, a dark theme and customizable keyboard shortcuts.

This is still a beta. If anything gets in your way, please let us know.
